Dhikr (or Zikir) is an ecstatic meditative practice from Sufi traditions. The 99
names of Allah, the Creator—representing qualities such as forgiveness,
purification, abundance, and divinity—are chanted collectively in a circle, often
accompanied by a tambur. The purpose is to harmonize with the frequency of
these divine attributes, seeking healing and grace by anchoring the meaning
of these names deep within one’s heart.
BIOGRAPHY
Umut Fırat Eroğlu, born in 1980, is a writer, mentor, and shaman healer. He is
the co-founder of the « Roots and Branches » event community based in
Istanbul. Inspired by his mother, Umut’s spiritual journey began at the age of
13 through meditation and astral travel. In his later youth, he sought the
meaning of life through quantum physics, music theory, spiritual philosophy,
and Sufi teachings, all while maintaining a career as a creative writer and
editor. Following a major turning point at age 33, Umut received his first
shamanic initiations and one-on-one training from his globally recognized
teacher and dear friend, Shaman Durek; together, they co-authored the book
Awakening (Uyanış).
Since 2016, Umut’s shamanic offerings have been a blend of Anatolian-Turkic
traditions and Amazonian and North American shamanic cultures. His father’s
lineage traces back to Sufi ancestors from Southeastern Anatolia—the cradle
of ancient civilizations and home to Rumi and many great Sufi masters. In his
healing work, retreats, and teachings, Umut combines ancient practices with
modern techniques, offering unique experiences involving high-frequency
transmissions.
Umut is also a weekly science and technology columnist for Turkish
mainstream media, creating bridges between science, ecology, neo-
spirituality, artificial intelligence, and consciousness.
Kökler ve Dallar (Roots & Branches) Event Community
Since founding « Kökler ve Dallar » in 2016—an organization focused on
shamanic events, festivals, and retreats—Umut and his team have become
pioneers of the spiritual scene in Turkey. Umut has also been a member of the
creative family at the Healing Festival in the Czech Republic since its
inception in 2017. To date, he has offered private sessions, workshops, and
retreats in major European cities, including Paris, Brno, Prague, Vienna,
Budapest, Brussels, Berlin, and Barcelona.
